Dear Ones:
How many of us have prayed over the years for a Heaven-sent revival or spiritual awakening to invade our land!? Well, for the past 15 days there has been a non-stop move of God on the campus of Asbury University in Wilmore, KY. From every indication, it has focused on the glory of Jesus Christ accompanied by repentance, confession, worship and an outpouring of Christ’s love. This has resulted in an in-gathering of souls who are now reaching out to others.
Significantly, while this movement has gained world-wide attention, the college leadership has sought to keep it low-key, not even recognizing well-known visitors. News networks, like Fox, were refused entry so as not to hinder God’s working through undo publicity, etc. Interestingly, this “awakening” has already spread to several other colleges. As in other historic “awakenings” critics are checking for any breach of Biblical validity or behavioral “quirks,” etc. Some may just be upset that this “break out” didn’t begin in their church or denomination. At this point I rejoice to hear of such an effective outpouring of God’s blessing and power; time will reveal its authenticity and fruit; but in light of the horrendous moral and spiritual implosion of our country, I heartily welcome any genuine “invasion” from Heaven! Amen!
For years I have embraced the promise that “When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.” (Isa. 59:19) The Psalmist cried, “It is time, Lord, for thee to work, for they have made void thy law” (Psa. 119:126) Whatever God may be doing elsewhere in groups of believers, thankfully we can experience personally by claiming the Spirit’s fullness (Eph. 5:18). Let’s sing together: “Revive us again; fill our hearts with thy love; may our souls be rekindled with fire from above. Hallelujah, Thine the Glory!” Amen!
The Spirit of conviction is also moving at the Mission. Satan is making his opposition known; we are not “wrestling against flesh and blood, but…against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Please continue to intercede for us in this battle for souls. My schedule is full, demanding special grace. I do have some physical issues which keep me from “over doing it.” Thank you for your loving concern and faithful prayers for wisdom and strength.
With love and gratitude to each of you,
Pastor Bill
