Dear Ones:
With Easter just up ahead, I’m traveling this week to preach at a Good Friday service near Scranton, PA. (Prayers appreciated) On March 16th I had my first post-OP checkup which went very well; however, at the same time I had a serious lung condition, cough, and fatigue, etc. I ended up staying at the Cleveland Clinic for an evaluation. Gratefully, the internist “overhauled” my medication regimen and in 3 days sent me home with an effective “tune up.” A big problem was the “over dosage” of BP meds which zapped my energy, etc. I have been like a “new man” since, enjoying renewed strength and vitality. PTL! It’s mind-boggling how God has brought the right people at the right time into my life. That’s why I believe that Rom. 8:28 applies to “all people” working together for good”, not just “all things.”
Thanks for your continued intercession for my Mission ministry. I’ve been asking the Holy Spirit to bring genuine conversion to precious souls. There was real evidence of His presence and power in my last class. God’s glory was manifested; not only in “deafening silence”, but in other visible gestures. Across America many are making “professions” of faith in Jesus with no real evidence of the new birth. Profession is one thing, but “possession” of Christ is another. It’s impossible to be savingly joined to Christ and not be changed. Scripture indicates that a true believer has become a “new creation” whereby old things pass away and “all things become new.” (2 Cor 5:17). Jesus said, “A good tree bears good fruit;” however some trees (believers) bear more fruit than others (e.g. some 30-fold...60...100 fold) The Spirit’s work is progressive and no believer is yet “entirely sanctified.” No, he's not what he should be or will be; but for sure he is not what he used to be! Amen!
Just a closing thought regarding the coming weekend. We will commemorate Jesus’ death (Cross) on Good Friday; but that event is meaningless apart from the empty tomb! Sin’s payment was made on Friday, but Sunday’s resurrection from the dead was the Receipt! Both acts are not only essential to the Gospel but to the believer’s daily victory. Thought: We not only need a Savior who died for us, but One who lives for us! (cf. Rom. 5:10).
With love and joyous gratitude in Christ,
Pastor Bill
