June 2026 Update

Dear Ones:

How many of us have been “annoyed” when someone quoted Rom. 8:28 to us while facing a critical trial? We may have thought, I already know that verse which says that “all things are working together for good to those who love God...” but certainly not in this case! To be honest, we’ve all been there; but suppose that verse is actually true in every case? The context of Rom. 8 is the complete salvation and security of those who are savingly joined to Christ. The unbeliever is not included here; but only those who “love God and are called according to His purpose.” Rom. 8:29 reveals God’s ultimate purpose; i.e. to conform the believer into Christ’s image or likeness.

True faith takes God at His word, trusting the results to our Sovereign and faithful Shepherd. James says “count it all joy” in the trial; knowing that it’s not a mistake; but somehow the testing “fits” into God’s plan for us. We “count” or commit the situation to God even though we may be grieving. While not understanding the reason “why” at the time, we “cast” our burden on God by faith knowing that He will ultimately be glorified and we shall be edified!

Does that mean that I can “put my whole weight down” on my Savior when faced with a cancer diagnosis, death of a loved one, or a car wreck, etc.? Yes, indeed! However, I’m the first to confess my failures in this regard and by grace desire to make Rom. 8:28 a new reality in my life. I want to fulfil Paul’s exhortation, “In (not ‘for’) everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

Think of the glorious freedom that would come by trusting God not just in “some things”, but in “all things!” Wow! Certainly that would demonstrate the normal, dynamic Christian life, resulting from the victory won at the Cross. The church and the world need to see an outpouring of this divine reality in this day of corruption and apostasy. Amen!

Thank you for your continued intercession for me. After 10+ years of battling peripheral neuropathy the nerves in my feet are beginning to “come alive.” My walking ability is slowly progressing as I work on balancing exercise. It’s been a “long haul” this year; but thankfully I’m becoming stronger and more engaged in ministry. The Mission class has been effective, along with other strategic “open doors” of opportunity.
